It is less than two weeks before we perform at the Theatre Royal Windsor and we're getting very excited!
Both routines are looking great and we'll be spending half term organising costumes for our big dress rehearsal.
The cast have been working super hard and are improving every week which is lovely to see. We just can't wait for all our supporters to see what we've been working on!
Rehearsals have started for our performance this November. We will be performing on Sunday 5th November at Theatre Royal Windsor. TTW are invited here every year and we love performing at this beautiful old theatre.
This year we will be performing a medley of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' songs and a drama & musical theatre piece based around 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory'. We are taking 30 members and everyone is already working hard to learn routines & scripts.
Tickets are selling fast so make sure you get yours before they all go!
We are very excited to be *almost* back to classes! Our Saturday classes start back this weekend - 16th - and all weeknight classes start the following week.
We can't wait to see everyone and get started on exciting projects for this term! We will be performing at the Theatre Royal Windsor again this November; entering members for the Marlow Drama festival this term; coaching for another LAMDA exam session in December; auditioning for National Theatre Connections; AND we'll begin work on our full length school show!
Phew! After all that we'll definitely be ready for another holiday. See you all soon :)
We don't know about you but summer has floooown by and we're almost ready to go back to classes. We have had two wonderful performance workshops this holiday and both casts were wonderful to work with.
We had 40 children in each workshop and they worked so hard for 4 days to pull a whole show together. Our Annie Vs Oliver was a modern take on the classic musicals and we were so impressed with the enthusiasm with which every student participated. It was lovely to see TTW members mixing with children who had never performed or attempted drama before. Everyone was helping each other and rehearsing throughout their lunchtimes! Check out our two casts below:
It's been a LONG term and we're so excited for the summer holidays because it means we get to do TWO summer workshops!
Our members have worked so hard this term and it's been amazing to see. They have taken on musical theatre workshops, Shakespeare monologues, acting to camera & LAMDA exam preparation. Newsletter have been sent out with all term dates & important information for next term - we've got lots of exciting things planned!
We've got performances booked at the Theatre Royal, Windsor in November and our annual TTW show early February. We are also very excited to announce that we have been accepted onto National Theatre Connections for 2018 and more information will follow on this after the summer.
Good luck to all of our members who are filming for major films over the summer holidays and we can't wait to hear all about it when you're back to classes in September.
Have a lovely summer and we'll see you in September :) xxx
As many of our members are taking their LAMDA exams in a few weeks we thought we'd share our TTW Top Tips for line learning.
1) Repetition, Repetition, Repetition - It may be boring but the more you go over and over your lines the more chance your brain with have to absorb them, especially if you do it just before bed!
2) Embrace the highlighters - use different colourful highlighters to pick out your lines and stage directions on a script, this helps you to see exactly which lines you need to learn and helps you to visualise them when trying to recall them later.
3) Record yourself - reciting your lines onto a phone or iPad and then listening back can help your brain to remember things better.
4) Practise with others - if you're learning a duologue then having your partner over for a practise will work wonders for your lines. Even if you can't practise with a partner or if you have a monologue, performing to someone else will help you to focus on your lines and will prepare you for performances.
5) Move it around - learning lines alongside your direction often helps cement everything in your mind. Your brain will associate the lines with muscle memory and it has the added bonus of making sure that all your blocking is all correct too!
Well done to all our members who have been assessed for their LAMDA exams over the last few weeks. We've been very impressed with how quickly everyone has learnt their speech pieces and the standard of acting is already very high. This year we are also entering duologue exams as we're thrilled to see the partners working so brilliantly together already.
Emails with second pieces and coaching details have been sent out / will be sent out this week. The coaching will commence after half term for five weeks in the lead up to the exams on Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th July. We will be submitting candidates to LAMDA at the end of this week so if there are any preferences for timings on the exam day please let us know asap and we will try to accommodate as best we can.
Can't wait to get to work with everyone :)
